It all started back in 2018, when Alissa reconnected with Brendan’s brother Chris, whom she had been friends with throughout high school. One day, she went to pick Chris up for an ice-skating trip, and when she stepped through the front door, she noticed something that caught her attention—a collection of Vans sneakers scattered across the floor. As a collector herself, she couldn't help but wonder whose they were.

When she reached the top of the stairs, Alissa met Brendan for the first time. Their friendship blossomed quickly in a group setting, and they found themselves spending more time together, talking and laughing over shared meals—especially Applebee’s caesar salads and spinach and artichoke dip. Over time, they became true best friends, supporting each other through everything, and their bond grew stronger with every passing day.

Six months into their friendship, the day Alissa had been manifesting finally came. Brendan confessed his feelings through a love letter, and she was screaming with joy. She describes it as a true "pinch me" moment.

Over the years, they’ve shared countless beautiful milestones—from buying their first home and adopting two wonderful dogs, to Brendan graduating college with honors and traveling to their dream destinations together. Through every high and every low, they’ve stuck together, growing stronger with each challenge. Whether celebrating life’s joys or supporting each other through difficult times, including Alissa’s battle with cancer, their love has remained unwavering. They’ve learned that it’s not just about the easy moments but how they come together and thrive through the tough ones.

And then, on a breathtaking trip to Peru a few months after Alissa went into remission, Brendan asked her to spend forever with him.
